A faint, occasional bad smell from floor drains, sink traps or bathroom corners is often the nose’s early warning system. It can mean water seals in traps are drying out, partial blockages are forming, or vent pipes aren’t working well.
If you notice this and act quickly—pouring water into rarely used drains, using mild cleaners, or calling a plumber for an early check—you might fix the issue while it’s still small.
Ignoring it until the smell becomes strong usually means the blockage has grown and now needs more invasive work. Your nose is annoying sometimes, but helpful.
