Renovation involves a lot of materials: tiles, cement, sand, putty, paint, wires, pipes, fittings. If you have no idea of quantities, you’re completely dependent on whatever numbers the contractor throws at you as the project moves along.
A rough quantity list—even if not perfect—gives you a baseline: approximately how many square feet of tile, how many litres of paint, how many bags of cement. You can compare this with bills later and notice if something feels far off.
It also lets you check market prices yourself, so you’re not totally in the dark about costs. Knowledge doesn’t mean mistrust; it just keeps the conversation fair.
