How can putting a lamp on a sideboard turn a dull corner into a cosy sitting spot?

Every home has at least one awkward corner near a sideboard, cabinet or console that doesn’t get much love. It’s too dark to sit there, so it just becomes a pass-through zone or dumping spot.

Place a warm table lamp on that sideboard and suddenly that corner changes personality. The soft pool of light makes it feel inviting, like a spot where you’d happily sit for ten minutes with tea, a book, or a quiet chat on the phone.

Add a chair or move an existing one nearby, maybe a small cushion, and that dead corner turns into a mini nook. You haven’t bought a full new sofa set or done any major work—just rearranged light and seating.

Good lighting doesn’t just brighten a room; it tells you where to be in that room.
