What difference does using warm light bulbs in bedrooms make compared to very cool white ones?

Cool white light is great for offices and kitchens where you want energy and clarity. In bedrooms, though, that same harsh brightness can feel too sharp and wakeful. It’s like trying to relax under an examination tube light.

Warm light bulbs—those with a softer yellow tone—create a gentler glow. Skin tones look better, shadows soften, and your brain reads the space as more relaxing. Reading, chatting, winding down all feel easier under warm light.

You can still keep a bright, focused lamp for tasks, but general bedroom lighting works best when it isn’t shouting at your eyes.
